When it comes to travel, packing wisely is essential!  We’ve all experienced times when we forgot to pack an item that we really needed on a trip.  This may have resulted in a quick trip to the nearest store in your destination.

Then too, most of us have experienced the feeling of packing too much. This resulted in dragging over-stuffed luggage through airports and paying pricey airline baggage fees needlessly.

Experienced travelers will tell you that there are some basic - and most useful – packing rules everyone should follow.  We list seven of those strategic packing strategies below:

  1.   When packing clothing, think Roll, not Fold

Travel experts all agree – that rolling up clothing is superior to folding. Tightly rolled clothes take up less space than folded ones. And, they don’t wrinkle as much.

  1. Know your airline’s baggage-fee policy

Know that most US airlines now charge big bucks for bags checked on domestic flights. Pack conservatively to avoid the cost of having to check multiple pieces of luggage.

  1. Follow the 3-1-1 rule

Know the TSA’s 3-1-1 rule for carry-on luggage.  All liquids brought onto planes must be in 3.4 oz. bottles or smaller and inside a single, clear quart-size zip-top bag.

  1. Pack that carry-on bag wisely!

Airlines will allow you one carry-on one bag and one personal item (purse, laptop bag, backpack). So, back your carry-on wisely to include those valuable items (like jewelry) you don’t want to risk losing or being damaged. Also, such essentials like your passport, money, credit cards, and other electronics.

  1. Pack dual-purpose garments

When packing, think versatile! Dual-purpose items, such as pants that turn into shorts or a jacket that turns into a travel pillow are worth their weight in airline baggage fees.

  1. Wash your clothes on the road

Consider if your destination has laundry facilities.  If so, realize you can wash and wear just a handful of outfits for the duration of even very long trips

  1. Think Layering

According to the TSA, “pack items in layers (shoes one layer, clothes one layer, electronics one layer, etc.)” so the security agent screening your bag can get a clear picture of what’s inside.

We at CaseElegance would like to suggest a couple products of our own that perfectly compliment any packing strategy.
