We all have to endure security checks by TSA agents before getting to the departure gate. While it’s part of their job, we can make the ordeal a lot easier for them AND us by remembering not to wear things that will make security checks difficult and present an issue. An example would be your lace-up sandals. Yes, they look awesome. But realize how impatient people behind you might become when you hold up the line because you have to take them off.
For a smoother experience going through security, think twice before wearing these four things:
- Maxi dresses and skirts
We all want to minimize the amount of pat down we have to endure. Why wear something that is bulky like a maxi dress? It requires additional patting by agents looking for potential things that might be hiding under the skirt. This is definitely not the type of dress you want to wear (unless you really enjoy being groped!).
- Excessive amounts of Bobby Pins
Believe it or not, most metal detectors are sensitive enough to be set off by lots of Bobby Pins. So, try not to wear any. Save the pins for grooming AFTER passing through security.
- Cargo pants/shorts
Any piece of clothing with lots of pockets creates potential problems when passing through security. It means you are bound to forget something like a lighter or set of keys when emptying pockets before passing through the metal detectors.
- Metal bracelets and necklaces
Bracelets and necklaces will usually set off metal detectors. Certain love bracelets can only be removed with a screwdriver. Imagine the problem that will cause.
