Packing for a vacation can be stressful. Most of the stress is centered around the question of what to pack? In an effort to be sure they don’t forget anything, many travelers end up over-packing. We thought it would be useful to mention a few items you NEVER NEED TO PACK into that already over-stuffed suitcase or carry-on. Six items come to mind:
- That endless supply of hair products
We don’t need to remind you that most hotels will be furnishing a supply of shampoo and conditioner. So why bother packing all that stuff? Granted, we all have our favorite brands, but the free hair products in your hotel room will get the job done.
- A hair dryer
Think about how much space a dryer takes up in your suitcase. Just as they provide complimentary shampoo and conditioner, hotels also usually provide hair dryers. So, do you really need to pack yours? The worst thing that could happen is that you end up having to let your hair air-dry. If that idea frightens you, call ahead to the hotel before leaving on your trip to confirm a hair dryer can be provided.
- Shoes galore!!!
Okay, shoes may be a weakness for many of us. We all have multiple pairs that we love for different occasions. But, try to limit yourself to two pairs. Choose two that are versatile, compact, and durable.
- Camera equipment
Unless you are a professional photographer on a mission, forget the tripod, extra flash and the multiple lenses. All those bells and whistles can be replaced by using your smartphone to take those pictures of vacation. And, that phone is going to be much easier to carry with you while you are out and about.
- Workout gear
Yes, there are a few diehard exercise buffs that will make a point to work out while on vacation. But, for the rest of us, it makes no sense to pack running shoes and exercise clothing that will never be used. If you do plan to spend time at the pool, then it’s more practical to pack poolside clothes instead.
- Towels
Never pack towels, period! All hotels are going to provide towels of various sizes.
