MAG Humidor Seasoning Walk-Through  |  Updated November 2024

Our instructions have been updated to reflect recent improvements. Follow along with this video for the latest setup instructions. Thank you for inspiring us to make these enhancements!

MAG humidor is seasoned the same way as the Renzo humidor.

Important Notes:

  • It's important to keep cigars stored as close to 70 degrees as possible. Lower temps will prevent the solution from evaporating and higher temps will quickly dry the humidor out.

  • Winter months and dry climates require diligent maintenance, using bottle or distilled water in addition to humidor solution will boost humidity much faster than humidor solution alone.

  • We do not recommend using Boveda packs. We have extensively tested Boveda packs with poor results.

  • DO NOT store your humidor in direct sunlight. This will quickly lower the humidor’s humidity.

    1. First, remove the plastic pull-tab from the backside of the digital hygrometer to turn it on (located on the front of the humidor). You can switch to °F or °C by temporarily removing the rubber seal and pressing the small button located on the back. Next, remove both lids and gel solutions from the Hydro Channels.

    2. Place both Hydro Channel bases in the bottom of the humidor and carefully fill them halfway with the Winter + Dry Climate humidor solution. During the seasoning process, we use this solution to give the humidor an extra boost of humidity.
    3. Allow the humidor to rest until the hygrometer reads ABOVE 68% FOR 1-3 CONSECUTIVE DAYS. Depending on your local climate, this process may take up to two weeks. Note: If you’re experiencing difficulty reaching the desired humidity, lightly dampen a paper towel with the solution and gently wipe the inside cedar lining to boost the humidity..

    4. Leave both Hydro Channel bases at the bottom of the humidor and carefully tear open the included Gel Solution packet. Evenly distribute the gel into the three sections of each Hydro Channel base that you’ve already filled with solution. Allow 6-12 hours for the gel to fully absorb the solution.
    5. Afterward, check your humidor's humidity levels:

If it's between 70-75%: No additional solution is needed. Proceed to the next step.

If it's between 65-69%: Add a small amount of Winter + Dry Climate solution, then proceed to the next step.

If it's above 75%: Remove one Hydro Channel for 24-48 hours and re-evaluate.

    6. Place the lids back on both Hydro Channel bases in the humidor.

    7. It’s time to place your cigars in the humidor. Ensure the humidity level is between 67-75% before adding your cigars. Once inside, your cigars will absorb some moisture, which may cause the humidity level to decline. With cigars stored inside, the optimal humidity range for our humidors is 65-72%.

Note: If you’re currently in non-winter months or a moderate climate, you can remove one of the Hydro Channels and store it for drier seasons. Using two Hydro Channels is beneficial for seasoning and maintaining humidity in harsher, drier climates.

    8. After seasoning, it's important to rotate your cigars biweekly and periodically refill the Hydro Channel.

    Winter/Dry Climate Seasoning Tips

        1. The easiest way to raise your humidity is by adding our custom Winter + Dry Climate Humidor Solution to one or both of your Hydro Channels and using both Hydro Channels together.

        2. Give your MAG humidor a single wipe-down with the Winter + Dry Climate Humidor Solution (only one wipe to avoid potential warping).

        3. Keep the temperature in your humidor as close to 70°F as possible. Higher temperatures can cause humidity to evaporate quickly.

        4. In a drier climate or during winter, it may take a full bottle of solution and up to two weeks to properly season your humidor. If you're having trouble maintaining humidity, adding distilled water directly to the Hydro Channel can help provide a boost.

        5. Even after adding your cigars, it’s important to stay vigilant until the humidity in the humidor stabilizes. Don’t feel pressured to add the gel crystals until your cigars are in place and the humidity has leveled out.

        6. Adding a shot glass of solution or distilled water can also be helpful for maintaining moisture.

Boveda Packs - Do Not Use

Some folks prefer Boveda, we get it. Your CE Humidor is designed and optimized to use approved Case Elegance provided and sold accessories, including our CE Humidor Solution.

We have extensively tested with Boveda packs in our humidors and have not had good results. We do not recommend using them.
