You’ve purchased some fine cigars or received them as a gift.

But, there’s one problem.

You still don’t have a humidor!

While you may know a humidor is the best way to keep your cigars fresh, you have no idea what to look for when buying one.

 We can help.

 Here are some considerations:

Consider price

While they come in many sizes, styles, and price ranges, you don’t have to spend a lot to get a good humidor. Good humidors that control the temperature and humidity can be had for less than $60.

Ask yourself “How many cigars will I need to keep fresh?

If you are like most cigar smokers, you don’t need a 7-drawer humidor that will hold hundreds of cigars.  Rather, something more practical in size.  Desk-top size humidors hold around 25 cigars and are perfect for most smokers.

It’s got to be lined with cedar

Cedar lining helps a humidor regulate the humidity and the air flow. Anything else won't maintain as even and optimal a temperature as a cedar humidor.

Season the humidor to create the microclimate

Spend 7 days preparing your humidor by seasoning it before storing the cigars in it. It’s a simple 2-step process:

  • Prime the humidifier by soaking the humidity beads or sponge, then placing it in the humidor.
  • Place a cup of distilled water in the humidor and blot the walls with a very-slightly damp towel. Close the humidor and allow to set for 7 days. Then, remove the cup of water. Your humidor is ready for the cigars.
